Overview of Tinamastes
Tinamastes is a very small town at cloud forest altitude (over 1,000 meters). It is located 15 minutes from the city of San Isidro del General, and 20 minutes from the resort town of Dominical on the Pacific Coast.
What Tinamastes lacks in amenities (no banks, hardware stores, etc.), it makes up for in stunning ocean vistas, spectacular topography, cool weather, friendly and peaceful locals, and a lack of biting mosquitoes.
Many folks are buying second or retirement properties in Tinamastes, due to the ideal location. It’s great to be halfway to San Isidro when you drive up from the coast on the excellent paved road – rather than halfway to nowhere, as is the case with most mountain roads in the area.
Please note that the upper reaches of Tinamastes are above the fog line, and it often drizzles. Which is probably why the locals call Tinamastes “Cielo Roto,” or “Busted Sky.” Unless you don’t mind having your views socked in for much of the rainy season, especially in the afternoons, you should take care to buy property and/or build your home below that line.
Tinamastes is home to the fabled Diamante Falls. You have got to see these falls to believe their beauty:
There are a number of homes and lots with views of these amazing year round waterfalls. Please contact us for more information.
