Quepos is a deep sea fishing/resort city on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, strategically located at the gateway to the town of Manuel Antonio and its famous National Wildlife Park. It takes about two hours to drive from Quepos north to San Jose, and half an hour to drive south to the surf town of Dominical. You can also get to the well known beach and party town of Jaco in about an hour. All of these routes are on fine paved roads. Quepos also hosts a regional airport, with daily flights to and from San Jose.
The city has casinos, hotels, restaurants, large grocery stores, gas stations, mechanics, clothing and shoe stores, banks, doctors, tour operators, a large hospital, hardware stores, and everything else that you would expect to find in any small city in Costa Rica. It also has a brand new marina which is the pride of the Pacific Coast.
Quepos is well known for its deep sea fishing industry. You can hire all kinds of boats to go fishing. The city is also just seven kilometers from Manuel Antonio, and you must go through Quepos to get there. For these reasons, it enjoys a lot of tourism. It also has a well known night life. Quepos is also the perfect place from which to explore the surrounding beaches and mountains. You can sign up for tours to go white water rafting, zip lining, jungle hiking, birding, kayaking, coffee farm touring, and pretty much whatever else you can think of.
